Well, the single most important thing is that they are a part of the team. You know, we don’t just do therapies on people. We involve them in the process.
So when I give somebody an exercise, they have to be able to do the exercise, and they have to be consistent with it, as well as reporting back to us if they’re having issues or if they forget how to do the exercise. So it’s a team approach more than just therapies being placed on their body.
One of our newest, not really a technique, but technology is shockwave. Shockwave is an acoustic therapy that’s used to break up fibrotic tissue that has been built up over chronic injuries, as well as stimulate new cell growth with stem cells. So we’ve seen a lot of recovery with patients that have plateaued with some chronic conditions.
The way we position ourselves to the family doctor community is that when people fail physical therapy, we tell them they haven’t failed conservative care. And so we don’t want the family doctors to change the way they refer. We just tell them that once they fail physical therapy, if they fail physical therapy, it doesn’t mean that they’re a surgical candidate yet. Sometimes they just need more specialized care, and that’s where we come in.
