There’s a few issues we must deal with here in Huntsville. First of all, the Rocket City is a great place to raise a family- well performing school systems, a growing economy, minimal crime rate, and prime real estate. Yet, here at SpineCare we see a problem. The prosperity we experience can have its downfalls. A life of prosperity, like many other Americans experience in other parts of the country, still has negative effects. You may not be doing back-breaking work as your dangers are more subtle.
Lots of sitting. Huntsville is a white collar job kind of town. While many jobs require exercise of some sort, most of us just sit all day! Like the frog in boiling water, your health is being slowly diminished in other ways. Doing the yard work on the weekend did not hurt your back, the week of sitting and not lifting is what prepped your injury.
Buffet Bonanza. For every mattress store or gas station, Huntsville seems to have restaurants. There’s nothing wrong with going out to eat every once and a while. Many of us chase the American Dream of the “food coma,” a swelling motion in your stomach. That’s not the feeling of full- that’s your body saying it is too full! The reason you get tired is your body is shifting massive amount of energy to process the food in your stomach. You are triggering a false signal in your body that it needs to store the excess.
Stale Gym Memberships. Only 18% of Americans use their gym membership on a regular basis. If you go to other cities you will notice we we have much less people exercising in public, whether running or cycling or even walking. The relative low amount of traffic allows most of us to use personal commute via cars.
Huntsville is getting better every year. We at SpineCare are highly optimistic about HSV. We just need to keep our health in mind as a star here in Alabama.
