- Sit less.
- Eat less
- Stretch more.
- Exercise more.
1) These are all simple tips to follow if you live in Madison, Alabama, or anywhere for that matter! Most American jobs are now sitting jobs and the average American sits around 7.7 hours per day. We understand that many of you have to sit to work but break up every hour by standing and stretching. Waiting until lunch or a bathroom break is far too long. Many people don’t realize that long stints of sitting can actually curve your spine. The human body was built to stand.
2) Almost everyone eats more than they need to consume. Three large meals is not even common in all countries and many claim it is an American ideal. Even if you continue to eat 3 meals per day, reduce your plate size or cut out empty carbs or high fat content. Follow a diet plan as bodies that carry extra weight have to disperse the load somewhere- right on your muscles and bones.
3) It doesn’t need to be yoga or pre-sports stretches. Everyone should touch their toes once a day. Calmly swivel your back to the left and right. While holding a pole or handle, lean back and breath in. Stretch each of your four limbs and rotate your neck. A great time to do these simple stretches are when you stand up. Start calling it your stand and stretch break.
4) Going to the gym is not that hard for most people. If you are a stay at home mom or super busy, walk around your neighborhood or do jumping jacks. If your heart beat does not elevate the entire day, you are not active! The human body was made for strain and exercise but it can’t take strain if it doesn’t exercise. Consult your local Madison chiropractor about safe exercise habits.
